Camping lantern lumens and runtime: what makers rate vs what testers measured
This table puts each lantern's manufacturer-rated brightness and runtime next to independent measurements, where a named publication has published them. Lanterns without an independent measurement show rated values only, and say so.
Use it to see how far a box rating can drift from real output before you plan a trip around it. In the measurements we found, one lantern beat its lumen rating and one fell short of both its lumen and high-mode runtime ratings.

Rated vs measured, lantern by lantern
Measurement methods differ: 1Lumen reads output on a bench rig at set time points, while Camping Guidance estimated lumens with a lux meter, which is less precise. Compare each measured value with its own method, not across publications. Scroll sideways on a phone to see every column.

Method and reuse

What is included. Every lantern recommended in our best camping lanterns guide, one row per model.
Rated values. Taken from the maker's page where we could read it, otherwise from the Amazon listing (identified by ASIN and read through the Amazon Creators API). Under the ANSI FL 1 standard, a lumen rating is the output about 30 seconds after switch-on, which is why sustained output tends to run lower. Measured values. Included only when a named publication reports its own measurement and describes how it measured. Kit Authority did not measure any lantern in this table. A blank measured cell means we found no such measurement, not that the lantern failed a test.
