Philips OneBlade review: which model to buy

Verdict: OneBlade is the easiest way to keep stubble or a short beard tidy, and it is gentle on sensitive skin, but by Philips' own description it does not shave as close as a blade. Most people should buy the 360 Face + Body; frequent travelers should pay up for the Pro 360 with the travel case and lock.

The Philips Norelco OneBlade is the shaver people buy when a razor irritates their skin and a beard trimmer cannot get a clean edge. It is also the top pick in our best travel razors guide. This review covers what OneBlade does and does not do, how the current US models differ, what the blades cost you over a year, and what to know before you pack one.

BEST OVERALL

Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Face + Body

The OneBlade 360 Face + Body trims, edges, and shaves with a single flexing blade, then swaps to a body blade and comb for below the neck. Philips is clear that it does not shave as close as a traditional blade, which is why sensitive-skin owners like it.

Best for: Travelers who keep stubble or a short beard and want one waterproof tool for face and body that will not irritate their skin.

  • One tool trims stubble, edges a beard line, and shaves, wet or dry
  • 60-minute Li-ion battery; Amazon owners say it rarely needs recharging
  • Not as close as a blade or a foil shaver, by Philips' own description

Who it is for, and who should skip it

OneBlade is a hybrid: part trimmer, part shaver. A fast-moving cutter (Philips says 12,000 strokes a minute) sits behind a guard with a glide coating and rounded tips, so it can cut hair of any length and stay comfortable on skin, per Philips. That design explains both its strengths and its limits.

It suits you if:

  • You keep stubble or a short beard. Clip on the comb to hold a length, take it off to shave the cheeks and neck, and use the blade's edge to line up the beard. One tool replaces a trimmer and a razor.
  • Your skin reacts to razors. TechRadar's reviewer reported no razor burn at all and called it a good choice for particularly sensitive skin. On the Philips store, a reviewer with curly hair and sensitive skin credits it with ending razor bumps.
  • You travel light. It is slim, light, fully waterproof, and charges from a USB-A port, and Tech Advisor's reviewer calls it his de facto travel razor.

Skip it if:

  • You want a baby-smooth shave. Philips states plainly that OneBlade does not shave as close as a traditional blade, and TechRadar found a foil shaver a little quicker. If you shave clean every day, look at the foil and rotary picks in our travel razor guide.
  • You want a dedicated beard trimmer. TechRadar found the 5-in-1 comb inconsistent on longer settings, with better results at 1 to 2 mm. The Pro models' dial-in comb runs to 10 mm.
  • You hate running costs. Blades are a wear part, and they are the real price of owning a OneBlade (see blade cost below).

Decision snapshot

Best for

Stubble, short beards, and sensitive skin, plus travelers who want one waterproof tool for face and body

Skip if

You want a skin-smooth daily shave or a dedicated long-beard trimmer

Bottom line

The easiest, gentlest way to keep a tidy face; budget for blades and accept that it stops short of skin-close.

Which OneBlade to buy: the current US models

Philips sells several OneBlade handles in the US. They all take the same 360 blade, so the differences are battery, charging, combs, and what comes in the box.

Every figure is from Philips' US product pages except where a listing is named. Philips rates blade life "based on 2 full shaves per week", and its 3-pack of blades is sold as a 12-month supply on that basis. No current OneBlade handle charges over USB-C: the cable has a USB-A plug on one end and Philips' own round connector on the other, which TechRadar calls the one glaring omission for travelers.

The 360 Face is the cheapest way in, but its NiMH battery runs 45 minutes and needs 8 hours to refill. Fine for short trips if you charge before you leave.

Philips Norelco

Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Face

The entry OneBlade 360 uses the same flexing blade and 5-in-1 comb as the rest of the line, with an older NiMH battery that runs 45 minutes and takes 8 hours to recharge.

Best for: Short trips and tight budgets where you want OneBlade's trim-and-shave head and can charge at home before you leave.

  • Lowest-cost OneBlade, with the same 360 blade as the pricier models
  • IPX7 waterproof for shower use and rinsing clean
  • NiMH battery: 45 minutes of runtime after an 8-hour charge

The 360 Face + Body is the one most people should buy. It moves to a Li-ion battery with 60 minutes of runtime and adds a body blade, body comb, and skin guard. The catch is a 4-hour charge.

The 360 Face + Body with Connectivity cuts the charge to 1 hour, adds a travel case per its Amazon listing, and pairs with Philips' app for blade-change and battery reminders. It is worth the small step up if a long charge would bother you.

The Pro 360 (QP6542/70) is for beards longer than stubble: a 14-length comb from 0.4 to 10 mm, 90 minutes of runtime after a 1-hour charge, and a 3-LED battery indicator. It comes with a soft pouch.

Philips Norelco

Philips Norelco OneBlade Pro 360 Face + Body

The Pro 360 adds a dial-in 14-length comb up to 10 mm, a 90-minute Li-ion battery that refills in an hour, and a battery indicator, plus the body blade and a soft pouch.

Best for: Beard keepers who want more length settings and a faster recharge than the standard OneBlade 360.

  • 90 minutes of runtime after a 1-hour charge
  • 14-length comb from 0.4 to 10 mm handles longer beards
  • Still USB-A charging, with no wall adapter

The Pro 360 with travel case (QP6552/90) is the travel model. It adds a hard case, a travel lock that stops it switching on in your bag, a digital battery display, and a 20-length comb. Philips rates it at 120 minutes per charge; the Amazon listing says 90, so plan on the lower figure.

BEST FOR TRAVEL

Philips Norelco OneBlade Pro 360 Face + Body with travel case

The top OneBlade for travel: a hard case, a travel lock that keeps it from switching on in your bag, a digital battery readout, a 1-hour charge, and a 20-length comb, plus the body blade and skin guard.

Best for: Frequent and long-haul travelers who want a OneBlade that locks, lives in a hard case, and shows exactly how much battery is left.

  • Travel lock and hard case, the two features that matter most in a packed bag
  • Philips rates 120 minutes of runtime after a 1-hour charge
  • Still charges over USB-A, with no wall adapter

Blade cost: the number that decides it

The handle is cheap; the blades are not. Philips rates each 360 blade at up to 4 months, but that assumes two full shaves a week. If you shave every day, the blades will wear faster, and an eject icon on the blade shows when it is time to change. Tech Advisor uses the same four-month figure, and T3 lists blades that dull quicker than expected and replacement blades that "aren't cheap" among its cons. TechRadar puts it most plainly: a multi-pack of blades can cost as much as the shaver.

Two ways to keep it reasonable: buy blades in multi-packs (Philips sells 2-, 3-, and 4-packs, and every blade fits every OneBlade handle), and stock up during sales, as TechRadar suggests. Before a long trip, pack a fresh blade; a dull one pulls and irritates.

Philips Norelco

Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Replacement Blades (3-pack)

Genuine OneBlade 360 replacement blades. Philips rates each blade at up to 4 months at two full shaves a week, so this pack is about a year of blades for a light shaver and less for a daily one.

Best for: Any OneBlade owner; pack a fresh blade before a long trip so a dull one does not irritate your skin away from home.

  • Fits every OneBlade handle, including the Pro models
  • Eject icon on the blade shows when it is worn
  • The ongoing cost of a OneBlade, and not cheap per blade

What owners and reviewers say

  • Reviewers. Tech Advisor's Dominic Preston calls OneBlade the best electric shaver on the market for most people, found it "fairly close" without razor burn, and saw no difference between the original and the 360 blade. TechRadar's Alex Whitelock rated the 360 4 out of 5 for design and value and 3.5 for performance, praising its gentleness and battery and faulting the comb and the missing USB-C. T3 gave the 360 its Recommended award, with blade cost and its loud styling as the main gripes.
  • Owners on Amazon. The 360 Face + Body holds 4.5 out of 5 from 7,915 ratings and the 360 Face 4.4 from 14,107, as of October 3, 2026. Amazon's review summary for the Face + Body says owners like the battery and comfort, and disagree on closeness and how long blades and attachments last. The Pro 360 holds 4.5 from 1,051 ratings; the travel-case Pro holds 4.3 from 845, where several owners report blades breaking.
  • Owners on the Philips store. The 360 Face + Body averages 4.4 from 320 reviews with 87% recommending it; one reviewer sums it up as great for trimming and travel but not for anyone who wants a close shave.

Traveling with a OneBlade

  • Security. TSA allows electric razors in both carry-on and checked bags, so a OneBlade goes through the checkpoint as is. Loose razor blades are a different story; see the TSA rules in our best travel razors guide.
  • Checked bags. The FAA requires lithium-battery devices in checked baggage to be completely powered off and protected from accidental activation. Only the Pro 360 with the travel case has a travel lock; with any other model, keep the protection cap on and pack it where the button cannot be pressed, or carry it on.
  • Charging. Pack the Philips cable. A phone's USB-C cable will not fit, because the shaver end is Philips' own connector. The other end is USB-A, so it charges from a laptop, a power bank, or a USB wall charger. No wall adapter comes in the box.
  • International trips. Because OneBlade charges over USB, you need a USB charger that accepts local voltage (check that the label reads 100-240V) plus a plug adapter, not a voltage converter. Our best travel adapters guide covers adapters with built-in USB ports.
  • Packing. It fits a slim toiletry kit; see our best toiletry bags. If you also carry shave gel, carry-on containers are capped at 3.4 oz under the TSA liquids rules, though OneBlade works dry and needs none.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Philips OneBlade shave as close as a razor?

No, and Philips says so: OneBlade does not shave as close as a traditional blade, which is why it is gentle on skin. TechRadar describes it as a relatively close shave without razor burn. If you want a skin-smooth finish every day, a foil shaver or a cartridge razor gets closer.

Is the OneBlade good for sensitive skin?

It is one of the gentler options. The cutter sits behind a guard with a glide coating and rounded tips, and TechRadar's reviewer reported no razor burn over two months. One Philips store reviewer with curly hair and sensitive skin says it ended their razor bumps, because it stops short of skin-close.

What is the difference between the OneBlade 360 and the OneBlade Pro 360?

The Pro 360 has a dial-in comb with 14 or 20 lengths up to 10 mm (the 360's 5-in-1 comb runs 1 to 5 mm), a battery indicator or digital display, 90 to 120 minutes of runtime, and a 1-hour charge. The 360 Face + Body runs 60 minutes and takes 4 hours to charge. Both use the same 360 blade.

How long do OneBlade blades last?

Philips rates each blade at up to 4 months based on two full shaves a week, and sells a 3-pack as a 12-month supply. Daily shavers will go through blades faster. The eject icon on the blade becomes more visible as it wears.

Can you take a OneBlade on a plane?

Yes. TSA allows electric razors in carry-on and checked bags. In checked bags, the FAA requires lithium-battery devices to be powered off and protected from switching on, so use the travel lock on the Pro 360 with case, or keep the cap on and pack it carefully.

Does the OneBlade charge with USB-C?

No. Every current OneBlade handle charges with a cable that has a USB-A plug and Philips' own connector on the shaver end, and no wall adapter is included. Bring the Philips cable when you travel.

Do OneBlade blades fit every OneBlade handle?

Yes. Philips says its 360 replacement blades fit all OneBlade handles, including the Pro models, and the original OneBlade blades fit the 360 handles too.
