The canopy dimensions, UPF rating, water-column claim, and packed length are the same. The frame and weight change. Carbon is 6.8 oz; standard is 8.9 oz.

At current direct pricing, the standard model is $45 and the Carbon is $55. Amazon prices can differ. The decision is therefore whether removing 2.1 oz from a repeatedly carried item is worth about $10.

Fiberglass is not a downgrade everywhere

Fiberglass can flex without permanent bending and does not corrode. Carbon is lighter and stiff. An umbrella frame experiences gusts and inversions differently from a trekking pole shaft, so a material label alone does not predict every failure.

The standard design still needs to be stowed in strong wind, dense brush, and technical terrain. No lightweight umbrella becomes storm equipment because its ribs use fiberglass.
